BMW’s newest full sized coupe, the M8 has been spotted testing at Nurburgring. This is the first time it has been seen and BMW fans are ecstatic.

This is not a completely new model, the 8 series was originally in production through 1989-1999, so this is just a comeback. The new M8 will rival the likes of the S-class coupe and possibly some other luxury coupes, like the Astons.

The M8 coupe will be ready for sale in late 2018 and have a approximate price tag of around $105,000 – $125,000.

Performance of the BMW M8

The BMW M8 could receive a the same 4.4L twin-turbo V8 as the M5 or also a V12, like the 7 series it’s based off. If they decide to go the M5 route, it will still produce some impressive numbers.

The V8 would produce 560 horsepower and also 500 lb-ft of torque. If they go with the v12 it could easily have over 600 horsepower. Either way it will hit 60 in under 4 seconds.

It will be available with BMW’s xdrive and also RWD.

It’s true to the original 8 series wedge shape but also has some modern BMW design cues we have become accustomed to. It’s a very large coupe, much it competitors and as mentioned before it is based off the 7 series platform.

Keeping that in mind you can expect luxurious finishes all around. Simultaneously delivering your need for speed in utter bliss. It doesn’t look much like the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso coupe we saw last year, which was truly gorgeous. We can’t completly comment on the looks because of the camo, but we’re sure it will look stunning.

Some recognizable features are the trademark BMW kidney grilles, which look plenty big to feed whatever power plant lies under.

The BMW M8 has a long body, much like the M6. This begs the question, what will happen to the M6 coupe? The new model could create competition in its own line-up. Speaking of the M6, the new model looks much different. The new BMW M8 has much more angular and chiseled lines where as the M6 has a smoother look.

In the future we may see some additions to the 8 series line up. With models such as the 830, 850 and 860, BMW has has also trademarked these names.
